I am a licensed clinical psychologist (WA state – PY 60541901) and owner of Summerland Psychology. I completed my doctoral training at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.
I worked at the Veterans Healthcare System for nearly 12 years, receiving specialty training in geropsychology (the psychology of aging) during my pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship years.
I have extensive experience helping individuals with concerns such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, insomnia and sleep issues, adjustment concerns, aging issues, caregiving, chronic pain, and bereavement issues.
My therapeutic framework is trauma-informed, integrative, flexible, and grounded in science. I believe in the importance of setting collaborative goals at the start of therapy to help guide the journey, and am skilled in helping clients identify and develop therapy goals as needed.
Establishing a solid, trusting therapy relationship is crucial. I am not the kind of provider who assumes that she has all the answers for you, nor am I the kind of therapist who will sit back and listen without offering guidance and direction.
I consider all aspects of your background and identity in my work with you. I recognize that systemic racism and other forms of discrimination can not only deeply affect mental health, but also how safe and supported someone feels in seeking help.
I am an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist and am skilled at working with individuals with a wide range of identities.
I’m of the mindset that we should “work to live, not live to work.” Originally from the Midwest, I have made the Pacific Northwest my home for the past 12 years and never plan to leave.
I am an avid outdoorswoman and enjoy trail running, hiking, backpacking, cycling, and scuba diving as much as time allows. My greatest adventure to date has been a solo double-crossing of the Grand Canyon in one day (Rim to Rim to Rim) – about 46 miles with over 11,000 feet of climbing (and descending!). I would be happy to tell you more about it sometime.
